Haphazard parking, two-wheelers parked in the space marked for four-wheelers, no-ticketing machines and staff without dress were among the violations spotted at the paid parking lots in Sectors 8 and 9 today.

At the paid parking lot in Sector 8-C, there is an underground free parking for two-wheelers. However, the staff of the contractor had allowed parking of four-wheelers at the entrance to the free parking lot, blocking its way.

Workers of the contractor were not present inside the lot due to which a private ambulance found it difficult to pass through as vehicles were parked haphazardly.

A good Samaritan was seen helping the ambulance and other vehicles find space inside the lot. There was little space inside the lot for the movement of emergency vehicles such as fire engines and ambulances.

Motorists were also found wanting. A two-wheeler rider forcibly parked his motorcycle in the space marked for cars. Despite an objection by the staff of the contractor, the two-wheeler rider parked his vehicle there and entered a bank.

The problem of haphazard parking was also witnessed in the other block of Sector 8-C where the contractor’s staff were allowing vehicles behind parked vehicles. Instead of limiting the entry of vehicles, the staff were allowing more vehicles, creating chaos inside the lot. Instead of using an e-ticketing machine, the contractor’s staff were issuing tickets manually.

The situation at the parking lots in Sector 9 was relatively better, but vehicles were still not parked properly. There was no contractor in one parking lot alongside Madhya Marg. In this lot, vehicles were not parked properly. At the other lot in Sector 9, there was not much haphazard parking but the contractor’s staff were issuing tickets manually.
