A Dadu Majra-based dairy firm owner, Parbinder Singh, has been sentenced to one-year jail and fined Rs 5,000 for less “milk solids-not-fat” content by Chief Judicial Magistrate Akshdeep Mahajan. As per the case, “milk solids-not-fat” was required to be 8 per cent but it was only 6.9 per cent in the samples taken from the shop.
In the case of April, 2000, a team led by UT food inspector had taken samples of mixed milk from Nirmal Dairy during a raid at the Dadu Mjara shop. The samples were sealed and packed in different packets.
Later on, milk samples were sent to the Public Analyst for analysis and examination. However, the agency report found the said deficiency in milk. Following which, the report was submitted in the court and he was found guilty.
