Nurpur, November 25
Nine khair trees were reportedly felled by unidentified persons in a forest in Amball forest beat in Jawali. Forest guard Kewal Singh was on duty in the forest beat last night. Around midnight, he heard the sound of someone cutting trees and intimated the forest block officer and range officer who rushed to the spot.
But the miscreants fled from the scene. They left their saw and the khair wood logs at the spot.
Following the police complaint, the Jawali police today examined the spot and seized the saw and chopped logs.
DSP Jawali DC Verma said that a case under Section 379 and 41/42 of the Indian Forest Act had been registered against unidentified persons. — OC
