Srinagar, January 20
A faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) today criticised the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) decision to scrutinise the bank accounts of the separatist amalgam’s chairman, Syed Ali Geelani.
The separatist amalgam in a statement said the scrutiny of the bank accounts of Geelani was a “ploy to cow down his spirits, harass and deter him from raising the voice of the suppressed and subjugated nation.”
“It is a part of the negative campaign, nothing is concealed and his activities are open, transparent and unambiguous,” the APHC said.
Media reports had yesterday said that five bank accounts allegedly linked to Geelani and his associates were being scrutinised by the NIA as part of its probe of terror funding. — TNS
