The Chairperson of the National Commission for Women will arrive in Udhampur next week to meet the victim, allegedly stripped naked by six youths recently.

Sources said after the recent electronic and print media coverage, National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Lalitha Kumarmangalam was coming to Udhampur next week with a fact-finding team.

They added that the NCW Chairperson would visit the place of the crime and also meet the victim at her house in Krimachi village, 10 km from the district headquarters.

Official sources said the Chairperson had taken a serious note of the incident in which the woman was stripped publicly during the day. The alleged accused had not only videographed the incident in their mobiles, but had also pressurised her to fulfill their wishes, saying the video will not be made public.

As the video was later shared on the social media, the police swung into action and arrested four of the accused. One of the accused is an Army jawan, posted in Hyderabad. A case has been forwarded to the millitary police. The accused Army jawan is yet to be taken into custody by the Udhampur police. The sixth accused is absconding.
