Kurukshetra, March 22

Didar Singh Nalvi, senior vice-president of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (ad hoc), today urged the SGPC to withdraw its petition challenging the formation of a separate shrine panel in Haryana.

Nalvi said the HSGMC was in accordance with the carving out of Haryana under the Punjab Reorganisaiton Act, 1966, that a provision for a separate panel to manage gurdwaras inHaryana was included.

SGPC member from Kurukshetra Harbhajan Singh Masan and the SGPC had filed a case in the Supreme Court in 2014. They had challenged the constitution of an independent Sikh panel by former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
