The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has approved two projects costing Rs 28.17 crore for providing raw water by pumping for 17 water works schemes in Haryana.

While stating this here today, Minister of State for Public Health Engineering Banwari Lal said over Rs 21.17 crore had been approved for providing raw water arrangements by pumping for 13 water works schemes at Kheri Jalab, Kheri Lochab, Nara, Kinner, Rakhi Khas and Rakhi Shahpur from Barwala branch at RD 12558-L, Kharkeri, Chanot, Majod from Balsamand branch at RD 25263-I, Uglana, Bhaklana, Dharam Kheri from Sunder sub-branch at RD 109031-R, Madanheri from Sunder branch at RD 150137-L in Hisar district. He said about Rs 7 crore had been approved for providing raw water arrangements for four water works of Niyana, Kharar Alipur, Kulana and Mayyar villages from Balsamand branch at RD 42800-L in Hisar district.

Banwari Lal said the first project would be completed within three years and cater to prospective population of 90,324 persons for 30 years.

The minister said at present these 13 water works were supposed to receive their raw water supplies from different canals or minors in Hisar district. However, it had been observed that for the past several years, these water works were facing an acute shortage of raw water from the feeding canals, for being at the tail end of canal networks and also due to a drastic reduction of raw water availability in canals.
