Mussoorie, July 13

The police recovered the murder weapon, a LMG rifle, that was allegedly used by the ITBP constable to kill his superior Surendar Lal and shoot another colleague Akhtar Husain inside the IAS academy in Mussoorie on July 10. The police also recovered around 100 rounds of ammunition.

The accused ITBP constable, Chandra Shekhar, was brought to Mussoorie today on transit remand after he was caught by the beat staff of the Chandigarh police yesterday and taken to the Kempty road where he had hid the LMG and around 100 rounds of ammunition.

Speaking to mediapersons Senior Sub-Inspector RS Kholia said the police had recovered the weapon and ammunition from Chandra Shekhar.

According to sources, Chandra Shekhar has shown no remorse at the crime he committed and said his superior Surendar Lal and other senior officials indulged in victimising him and asking him to the tasks that were nearly impossible for him. This lead to his plan to kill senior officials.

Later, in the evening, he was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dehradun, which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody. He was sent to jail.
