A murder case accused was shot dead near a court room in Hanumangarh while he was waiting for hearing along with a co-accused here today.

The police had a tough job in controlling hundreds of people who thronged the district courts complex. The victim was immediately shifted to a government hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries as bullet had pierced through his chest.

Preliminary reports indicated that Harish Sindhi (40) of the Sureshia colony was among the five persons who were accused of killing a person on March 6, 2006.

Sindhi was released on bail and had come to the courts along with another accused. As they were sitting outside the room of Additional District and Sessions Judge, an unidentified person came in and fired two shots from a pistol. The accused fled the spot.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination and a case registered. Two persons have been rounded up for questioning.

A deputation of the Bar Association, led by its president Manish Tanwer, met SP BB Yadav and expressed concern over such crimes in the district courts complex. Tanwer said advocates and their associates were feeling unsafe. A police post should be sanctioned for the district courts complex, the deputation demanded.
