Movie treat for deprived children

The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) showed an inspirational movie, “Poorna”, to inmates of childcare institutions at Elante Mall, Chandigarh. Around 250 children enjoyed and inspired from memoirs of a young girl in Telangana, who joined the State Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society for her education and became one of the youngest girls to climb the Mount Everest.

Speaking on the occasion, Harjinder Kaur, chairperson, CCPCR said, “There are different ways to inspire young minds and one of the most effective ways is through inspirational movies like “Poorna”.

Boys were also given black shoes by Tara Singh, president, management committee, Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 38, and sports shoes besides mattresses by the Rotary Club.

The commission also interacted with inmates of the Society for the Rehabilitation of the Mentally Challenged (SOREM).

The Commission Chairperson, along with member Pramod Sharma, interacted with special children in their classrooms.

Harjinder Kaur said, “This was a short visit to SOREM. However, we are glad to meet and interact with special children, who have such an amazing talent and competence.”
