MoU for 90-km green road

Ecotourism Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (EDCUL)  and National Building Construction Corporation Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for constructing the 90-km Ramangar-Kotwar green road, popularly known as the Kandi road. 

The MoU was signed by Yogesh JP Sharma, Executive Director (Engineering), NBCC, and Anup Malik, Managing Director, Ecotourism Development Corporation of Uttarakhand limited, in the presence of Forest Minister Harak Singh Rawat.

Addressing mediapersons, the minister said the construction of the road was a long-pending demand of the people of the state.  He said once completed, the distance between Kumaon and Garhwal would be reduced significantly.  He said this would be the first fully green road as a stretch of it would pass through the Corbett National Park.

Harak Singh Rawat said the Kandi road would help promote wildlife tourism. 

The NBCC will prepare a detailed project report under the guidance of the Wildlife Institute of India and complete the construction with two years.  Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Jairaj was also present.
