In yet another hit-and-run case, a recklessly driven vehicle sped away after hitting a motorcycle near the road dividing Sectors 32 and 46, claiming the rider’s life.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Sahil Likha, a resident of Sector 45, Chandigarh.

The police said the incident took place on May 25 at around 8 pm when the victim was returning home from Panchkula. The victim’s father, Manish Kumar Likha, spoke to him at around 7.40 pm when his son was on his way home.

At around 8.30 pm, the victim’s father called him up again, but someone else received the call and informed him that his son had met with an accident.

A police vehicle rushed the victim to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC has been registered against the unknown driver at the Sector 34 police station.

The police said they were investigating the matter.

Car driver hurt in another mishap

In another accident, the driver of a Maruti Zen car was injured after the car met with an accident near Tribune Chowk last night.
