Motorcyclist crushed to death

Chandigarh, January 31

In yet another fatal road accident, a 35-year-old resident of Burail village was killed when a truck crushed him near the Hallo Majra light point, here today.

The victim has been identified as Shatrugan, a resident of Burail village, who was working as a daily wager. He was on his way to Zirakpur, on his bicycle, when a truck hit him from the rear and crushed him to death near the Hallo Majra light point.

He was rushed to Government Medical Hospital, Sector 32, immediately where he was declared dead by a team of doctors. 

The Investigating Officer said the body of the victim would be handed over to family members after conducting a postmortem examination on Sunday.

The accused truck driver was arrested from the spot. The accused has been identified as Vishal, a resident of Vijay Nagar in Bihar.  The victim has left behind his wife and two children. He was the sole bread earner of the family. A case of negligent driving has been registered against the accused driver at the Sector 3 police station.
