BHIWANI, AUGUST 12

Kamleah Rani (30) of Bawani Khera village in the district has been ousted along with her three daughters by the in-laws for not giving birth to a boy. Her pleas for action against the in-laws fell on deaf ears as the police did not register any formal complaint in this regard.

Sources Kamlesh Rani, a resident of ward 13 in Bawani Khera town, was married to Nand Kishor of Kanwarpura village in Sirsa district in 2005.

She alleged here today her in-laws started harassing her after her first girl child. Similar treatment was meted out to her on the birth of the second and third girl children.

“When my in-laws discovered that I was pregnant, they ousted me from their home with my three daughters, asking me to come back only if she delivers a boy “, Kamlesh complained.

Sonu Kumar, the victim’s brother, said that it was not the first time that his sister was assaulted and thrown out by her in-laws but they patched up at the panchayat level several times in the past.

He said they had approached Ding police station in Sirsa district but it referred them to go to Bhiwani women’s police station.

When they reached the women’s police station, the police asked them to contact the police station in Bawani Khera. The Bawani Khera police told them to lodge their complaint at Ding police station in Sirsa district.

However, Bawani Khera police station in charge Galla Ram said no such complaint had been received, adding that due action would be taken against the accused if a formal complaint was received.
