Mehakjot Singh has made Mohali proud by standing first in Punjab in the Joint Entrance Test

(JET-2015), the results of which were declared today.

Mehakjot Singh, son of a Deputy Manager at the local Verka Milk Plant, Jagsir Singh, has secured 688 marks out of 720 in the examination conducted by the Punjab Technical Board.

He told Chandigarh Tribune at his home here that the result was a big surprise for him as he had never expected that he would do so well. He said he had hoped to get a place in the top 20.

A student of Lawerance Public School here, Mehakjot Singh said he would like to get admission to the diploma course in aerospace at the Thapar college, Patiala. In case he failed to do so, he might change his plan and continue his school studies and later go in for a full-fledged engineering course.

He said though he had remained among the toppers in the school, he had not put in extra effort for the JET. His Class X examinations had finished on March 23 and after that he just revised the syllabus once again for the competitive examination, which was held on April 19. He had not taken any extra coaching for the JET.
