Dehradun, July 26

After failing to have a favourable response from Chief Minister TS Rawat, a few BJP MLAs have now complained about the alleged non-cooperative attitude of the bureaucracy towards them to the Uttarakhand Speaker Premchand Agarwal.

The Speaker has reportedly written a letter to the Chief Secretary regarding the grouse of the MLAs who have been ill at ease with their own government.

According to sources, Agarwal in his letter has said that the officials should take the telephones of the MLAs as they are the elected representatives of the people.

The matter was also brought before the Chief Minister but it did not elicit any response forcing the MLAs to approach the Speaker.

The MLAs had also complained about not receiving due protocol during functions.

As elected representatives, the MLAs can even take up the matter and raise it in the house, citing breach of privileges.

When asked about the BJP MLAs discomfort with their own government, PCC chief Pritam Singh said that it speaks volumes about the functioning of the TS Rawat government. “Where will the MLAs go, if there complaint is not heard, they had no choice but to speak to the Speaker,” he said.
