Miscreants allegedly tried to bribe an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and beat him up near the Clock Tower area here on Friday.

According to information, a group of gamblers had gathered near Clock Tower. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Varinderpal Singh of traffic police got the information that these people were creating traffic chaos in the area.

The ASI reached the spot and asked them to go away. The accused allegedly started arguing with him and offered him money.
The ASI refused to accept the money, but the accused allegedly tried to put money into his pocket. They also allegedly beat up the police officer and tore off his uniform.

The accused also made a video of the incident.

Varinderpal sounded senior police officials, who registered a case against four people. The main accused has been identified as Vikas Chhabra while the other accused are yet to be identified.
