SRINAGAR: Students of Minto Circle School took out a rally recently to raise awareness about the environment while observing World Earth Day with a series of events spread over two days, said an official of the school.

Students of Minto Circle School took out a rally recently to raise awareness about the environment while observing World Earth Day with a series of events spread over two days, said an official of the school.

“The aim of the event was to raise awareness about different aspects of environment preservation among the students,” said the official. The two-day event was held in collaboration with a Delhi-based environment awareness group.

The school organised various cultural programmes, painting competitions and a rally to mark the day, which was followed by the prize distribution ceremony.

Meteorological Department Director Sonam Lotus was the chief guest on the occasion. He distributed prizes among various participating students.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22 to demonstrate support and create awareness for the protection of the environment.
