Minors’ rape: SC panel summons Bathinda SSP

BATHINDA: Taking suo motu cognisance in a rape case of two minor Dalit girls at Bhai Rupa village, the State Commission for Scheduled Castes yesterday summoned the Bathinda SSP to report action taken by them.

Taking suo motu cognisance in a rape case of two minor Dalit girls at Bhai Rupa village, the State Commission for Scheduled Castes yesterday summoned the Bathinda SSP to report action taken by them.

The two girls were kidnapped allegedly on May 20. They were raped and thrown in a field. A case was registered on May 21 at the Phul Police Station. Both the accused, Jagsir Singh Seera and Kulwant Singh of Sailbra village, were arrested on the same day when the case was reported. Punjab SC Commission chairman Rajesh Bagga said, “Taking cognisance of the news reports, the Bathinda SSP has been summoned to appear before the commission on June 9.”— TNS
