Adopting a zero tolerance towards corrupt practices, the state government has decided to probe the alleged SC, BC scholarship scam involving crores and anyone found guilty will be severely dealt with.

This was stated by Cabinet Minister for welfare of SCs and BCs Sadhu Singh Dharamsot here today. He had come to pay obeisance at the Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdwara after becoming the minister. He was accorded a warm welcome by Congress workers led by MLA Kuljeet Singh Nagra.

He said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh was concerned over the closure and shifting of industrial units particularly in Mandi Gobindgarh. He said the Chief Minister would meet the industrialists soon and come out with new industrial policy to restart the industry in Mandi Gobindgarh.

He said soon the SC/BCWelfare Department would initiate a campaign to boost the rural economy and make the environment clean and green through sapling plantation on one-third of the panchayat land by involving workers under MGNREGA.

He said it would help in creating eco-friendly environment in the rural areas and generation of employment for MGNREGA workers. He added that each MGNREGA worker would be allotted around 200 saplings to look after.
