MC supports closure of liquor vend near school

The Municipal Council (MC), Mandi, has come forward supporting the closure of a liquor vend near a school in the town and urged the authorities to close it with immediate effect. MC chairperson Neelam Sharma said today that the liquor vend was close to a school at the Samkhetar area in the town.

However, the High Court has given direction that there should be no liquor vend or drug sale shop within 100-m distance from school premises to. “Recently the MC had passed a resolution and submitted a memorandum to the Excise and Taxation Department to work over the issue,” she added. — TNS
