The Municipal Council felicitated schools and social organisations at a simple ceremony held on the council premises today for their support to the Swachh Bharat Mission started on October 2. The mission was launched with an objective of making the town clean and green. Sanatan Dharm Girls Inter College, Mussoorie International School and Mussoorie Public School were honoured for their proactive contribution coming first in the Swachh Bharat rally on October 2.

Allen Chaudhry from Wynberg Allen School collected the award on behalf of the school for his contribution towards making the town polythene bag free.

Former Mussoorie MLA Jot Singh Gunsola said it was a collective responsibility of all citizens to keep the town clean and green. He said the MC should use the eco-fee tax for cleanliness activities in the town.

MC president Manmohan Singh Mall thanked all organisations for their support for a complete ban on the use of polythene bags in the town and said if anyone found using the banned material would be penalized up to Rs 5,000 and punished according to the law.

He also urged the Mussoorie Hotel Association to come forward and support the mission.

Mussoorie Public School Principal Mukesh Lal said educational institutions in the town were ready to support the MC for the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Ramesh Chinalia sought the help of MC in curbing the monkey and stray dog menace in the town.

MC health officer Dr RK Singh thanked all institutions and social organisations for their support to the Swachh Bharat Mission.
