Mann seeks Rs50 lakh, govt job for Neha’s kin

The house of Neha Sharma, who was mistakenly shot dead at a barricade in Samana after the Nabha jailbreak on Sunday, has became a political “akhara” with leaders visiting the family.

Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, accompanied by AAP leaders Dr Balbir Singh, Kuldeep Kaur Tohra and Karamvir Singh Tiwana, visited the house today.

Interacting with Neha’s mother Neelam Sharma and elder bother Karan Sharma, Mann said a case against unidentified persons was unfair. “It is known that the police shot her. Videos of the incident are viral.”

He called up Patiala SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and asked him to identify police personnel responsible for the incident. “I will follow the case and meet the DGP.”

The Sangrur MP demanded Rs50 lakh in compensation and a government job for one of Neha’s brothers.

Karan, Neha’s brother, told The Tribune Neha was the sole earning member of the family. “She had taken loan of more than Rs10 lakh to construct the house we are living in.”

Advocate Satbir Singh Khatra, SAD candidate from Patiala Rural, visited Neha’s house in the evening.
