Treasury to come up at Nainbagh, health centre to be upgraded

Chief Minister Harish Rawat has announced a plethora of development projects, including the construction of a treasury and sub-registrar office at Nainbagh.

He made these announcements during a rural sports and cultural festival organised by the Pichdi, Anusuchit Jati Evam Janjati Samiti at Sardar Singh Inter College in Nainbagh here today.

The Chief Minister paid homage to senior Congress leader Sardar Singh. He announced the upgrade of the primary health centre in Nainbagh to a community health centre.

He also announced the construction of a 5-km road from Tator to Chilamao village and appointment of more teachers at the local college. He asked the college authorities to introduce science and Sanskrit courses.

The Chief Minister announced other projects, starting of electronics and automobile courses at the government industrial training centre, construction of a 10-km road from Bangaon to Suman Kyari, and cementing of the 4-km road from Kharson Kyari to Kharson village and the 4-km Fakrol Kherad road.

He directed the Tehri District Magistrate to conduct a survey of land for the construction of a guest house of the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam at Nainbagh.

He also announced the establishment of the agriculture produces market at Nainbagh and the construction of four additional class rooms at Government Inter College, Nainbagh.

The Chief Minister also announced to transfer the Dhanaulti-Moriyana Motor road from the Forest Department to the Public Works Department (PWD).

MLA Dhanaulti Mahavir Singh Rangad demanded OBC status for Thauldhar region in Tehri district and parking facility at Thatyud.

Saket Bahguna, Urban Development Minister Pritam Singh Panwar, Mussoorie Municipal Council president Manmohan Singh Mall, former MLA Mussoorie Jot Singh Gunsola, Congress leader Jot Singh Bisht, senior BJP leader Naryan Singh Rana, president of the organising committee Dr Virendar Rawat, Pradeep Kavi, Amendar Bisht, Megh Singh Kandari and Siya Singh Chauhan were also present on the occasion.

Barkot ITI renamed after social activist Rawalta

The Chief Minster during a visit to Barkot in Uttarkashi district on Monday renamed the local Industrial Training Institute (ITI) after eminent social activist Jot Singh Rawalta. He unveiled a plaque and offered floral tribute at the portrait of Jot Singh Rawalta on the occasion.

The Chief Minister while addressing a gathering there said honouring Jot Singh Rawalta was akin to honouring all social activists of the region. He added it had been his dream to bring the region under the OBC list and his government had fulfilled it.

Rawat said the youth would take advantage of the ITI and start self-employment ventures. He informed the gathering that he was planning to develop agriculture in the region and had already begun the exercise to provide Rs 4 per litre of milk to the farmers through various milk cooperatives. He emphasised on traditional agriculture practices and said the government would support them in their endeavours.

He said the Barkot nagar panchayat would be granted the status of a muncipal council and the Tiladi festival would be celebrated at the government level. He said a 220 KW sub-station would be opened in the Yamuna valley and a tourism village would be constructed around Kharsali village for pilgrims visiting the state during the winter. He extended his greeting to ex-servicemen on Vijay Diwas and said the armed forces had won the historic war against Pakistan on the day which reminded the nation about the sacrifices of soldiers.

Rawat announced the expansion of the Chinyali Saud airstrip and starting of Himalaya Darshan through helicopters from Barkot soon.
