Husband sentenced for abetting suicide

Additional Sessions Judge KS Lamba has convicted Rajiv Jain of Mohalla Jainian, Raikot, on the charges of abetting suicide. His mother, Sunita Jain, was also convicted.

Both accused were ordered to undergo imprisonment for 3 years each with a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

Rajiv Jain was married to Rimpy Jain (the deceased) in September 1997. She had committed suicide in December 2004.

A case was registered against the accused persons under Section 306 of the IPC at the Raikot Police Station on December 21, 2004, following the complaint of Seema Jain (mother of the deceased) of Ambala. The complainant had levelled allegations of harassment and maltreatment against the in-laws family of the girl.
