Chandigarh, March 22

A PGI resident working with CITCO at Hotel Shivalikview, Sector 17, here, has submitted a written complaint to the UT DGP at the Police Headquarters, against PGI police post in-charge Sub-Inspector Eram Rizvi and other staff of the police post alleging that he was harassed by them on March 11 and illegally detained at the police post for six hours.

The complainant, Anil Grover, has complained that a staff of the PGI police post came to Hotel Shivalikview and illegally took him to the police post where he was made to sit for around six hours.

Grover claimed that he had a dispute with his wife, who is working as a stenographer at the PGI, on March 10.

“The issue was resolved on the same night, but the police took him into custody from the hotel in front of his colleagues stating that he has been arrested,” Grover alleged.

He also alleged that the policemen also took 11 bottles of whisky lying at his house and refused to return the bottles.

Sub-Inspector Eram Rizvi, In-charge, police post, PGI, when contacted stated that Grover’s wife had called the Police Control Room on March 11 to complain about the dispute with her husband.

“Since the matter was serious, Grover was brought to the police post and his wife was also asked to come. But, the woman refused to give a written complaint against him,” she said.

The Sub-Inspector further said since the woman refused to give a complaint and undergo medical examination, Grover was let-off without any action against him.

A DDR was also registered in this regard at the PGI police post on March 11.
