A row over a water connection cost a farmer and his two sons their life when they were killed by the farmer’s elder brother and kin at Lova Kalan village on Friday night.

The accused allegedly took away the bodies in a car and dumped them at Nahra village in Sonepat.

The police identified the deceased as Ramphal (55) and his sons: Sumit (28) and Deepak (24); they booked Ramphal’s brother Ram Kishan, Kishan’s wife Ompati, sons: Yogesh and Sandeep, daughter-in-laws: Bunti and Seema, other family members: Saroj and her son Parvesh, on a complaint filed by Sumit’s wife Rubi.

Jhajjar SP Rajesh Duggal said both parties had an argument around 6pm yesterday when Ramphal and his sons were digging outside Ram Kishan’s house, to get a water connection. They were pacified after some time, he added.

“Later, the accused armed with pistols and bamboo sticks attacked Ramphal, Sumit and Deepak, when they were sitting outside their house. The accused fired several rounds upon the trio from their licensed revolvers and killed them. Thereafter, they took the bodies to Nahra village in their car to destroy evidence,” Duggal said.

“Yogesh, Bunty, Seema, Saroj and Parvesh were arrested from Jassaur Kheri village,” Duggal said. — TNS
