Mohali, December 21

The Mohali police have claimed to have recovered the Fortuner car that was used by four robbers to carry out a robbery at a liquor vend in Kharar last night.

The Mohali SSP, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said the police have identified the robbers.

Choosing not to divulge any further details about the miscreants, the SSP added that the car was recovered from Noor Villa, a residential colony located along the Kharar-Kurali road.

“Prima facie, they have fixed fake registration number plate on the vehicle,” said the SSP.

Notably, the Fortuner car, which was heading towards Kurali after the robbery, was being chased by a cash collection van last night and the robbers had taken a U-turn towards Kharar to dodge their chasers.

“It seemed as if the robbers panicked that the vehicle would be intercepted by the police and so they left it there,” added the SSP.

Because of the weekend, we could not get the entire details of the vehicle, said the SSP.

“We will nab the accused at the earliest,” said SSP Bhullar.

Notably, four persons carrying firearms, looted Rs 50,000 from the liquor vend, located near Krishna Enclave, Khanpur village, Kharar, at around 8.45 pm yesterday.
