Man gets 10-year jail

CHANDIGARH:The local court today sentenced a Sector 15 resident to 10-year imprisonment and fined him Rs 25,000 in a case of attempt to robbery.

The local court today sentenced a Sector 15 resident to 10-year imprisonment and fined him Rs 25,000 in a case of attempt to robbery. 

The accused, Karan, had tried to rob an auto driver Gautam, by throwing red chillis in his eyes.

On April 18, 2016, at about 9.30 pm, Karan had signalled the auto driver to stop. The accused had then asked the victim to drop him at Balmiki Mandir, Sector 24. 

On reaching the destination, the accused took out the red chilli powder from his pocket and threw it on the victim. The accused also attacked the victim. 

The victim caught the accused after which passersby nabbed him and handed him over to the police.
