Bringing a sigh of relief, the Motichoor man-eater leopard in Uttarakhand was shot dead on Wednesday.

Five persons had been killed in the leopard attack   this year.

Forest Department hunters were desperately looking for the leopard. They zeroed in on it at Khandgoan, gunning the beast around 3.30 am. The man-eater was buried after conducting a postmortem.

Rajaji Tiger Reserve’s Director Sanatan Sonkar said the man-eater was an adult female and active in the region for quite some time.

Since 2014, 18 persons have fallen prey to attacks by leopards in the Motichoor range. — TNS
