A local court on Wednesday convicted a Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, native of killing his friend at Old Labour Chowk 18/19/20/21 in 2014. The court has scheduled the quantum of sentence for April 29.

According to prosecution, it was on September 10, 2014 that a dead body was found in a pool of blood at the Old Labour Chowk. The deceased was later identified as Ram Kishan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He was staying with his family at Gobindgarh.

During investigation, the police found a tea vendor who told the police that Shree Niwas told him that he killed Kishan and now wanted to surrender before the police. Later, he surrendered near the sports complex in Sector 7.

Niwas told the police during interrogation that he and the victim sat for drinking. They later had a quarrel over owed amount of money to be returned to Niwas. When Kishan did not give him the money, the accused attacked him with a stone repeatedly and fled from the spot.
