Low-cost units for EWS families with Rs 3-lakh income

The EWS families with an annual income of Rs 3 lakh will also be eligible for allotment of low-cost dwelling units and Ashiana flats constructed by HUDA.

A spokesman of HUDA said a proposal to this effect had been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The Chief Minister has also approved the revised policy regarding the norms and eligibility for beneficiaries for the allotment of low-cost HUDA dwelling units in various Urban Estates.

He said the new policy would govern the conditions for allotment of low-cost dwelling units for unauthorised occupants on land belonging to HUDA, Government of Haryana or any of its agencies in various Urban Estates in the State.

Referring to the norms and eligibility criteria of allotment to such beneficiaries, he said that first preference for the allotment of low cost dwelling units would be given to the petitioners in CWP No.11637 of 1996 and other connected CWPs in the respective Urban Estates who have been unauthorisedly occupying land belonging to HUDA for the past more than five years as on April 19, 1999, when the matter was decided by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The cut-off date for this purpose would be April 18, 1994.

The second preference would be given to those inhabitants and occupants who have been unauthorisedly occupying land belonging to HUDA for the past more than five years as on April 3, 2008, when a bunch of cases got finality in the apex court. The cut-off date for this purpose would be April 1, 2003. This provision would also include those inhabitants and occupants who are occupying unauthorisedly any land belonging to the Government of Haryana or any of its agencies and also land which affects the essential services like roads, water supply, sewerage, bridges etc.
