Life in Kangra crippled

PALAMPUR: Heavy rain and snowfall disrupted normal life in Kangra valley. The upper areas of Chhota and Bara Bhanghal and the higher reaches of the Dhauladhar hills experienced heavy snow in the last 24 hours.

Heavy rain and snowfall disrupted normal life in Kangra valley. The upper areas of Chhota and Bara Bhanghal and the higher reaches of the Dhauladhar hills experienced heavy snow in the last 24 hours. The entire region is in the grip of severe cold wave. Power supply was also interrupted in Palampur and its adjoining areas because of heavy rain.

Thirty villages of Chhota Bhanghal valley were cut off with rest of the state following heavy snowfall between Jhatingri and Kothi Kohar. All internal roads leading to the valley are under two to three feet snow. Meanwhile, power supply in the Chhota Bhanghal valley was also disrupted following snowfall and uprooting of trees. There is also drinking water crisis that has further multiplied the problems of the people.

Reports reaching here said the entire Chhota Bhanghal area between Bir and Kothi Kohar is reeling under freezing temperature.

The Bara Bhanghal valley has also been cut off following heavy snow at the Thamsar Pass.
