The Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti organised a lecture on International Year of Light-2015 at the Indian Institute of Technology here yesterday.
Dr TV Venkateshwaran, executive committee member of the Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti and Dr Sabyasachi Chatterjee, working as president, All-India Peoples Science Network, interacted with faculty members and students.
Dr Venkateshwaran talked about the importance and the role of Ibn Al Haythem in the field of science, particularly in optics, mathematics and astronomy in 1015 AD, about a thousand years ago. Dr Chatterjee demonstrated the easy and low-cost experiments to understand the optics.
