Preparations were at the final stages today for a laser show on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Chappar Chiri here tomorrow.

The laser show, which is being organised on the occasion of the 300th ‘shaheedi samagam’ of the great Sikh warrior, will showcase his life and philosophy. It will be held at 6 pm at Banda Singh Bahadur war memorial.

Efforts are being made to make it a well-attended event. The local administration has been asked to ensure that the public participates in large numbers.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur won the battle against Wazir Khan, who commanded the Mughal army, at Chappar Chiri. Wazir Khan had come to Chappar Chiri to stop the march of the Sikh army, led by Banda Singh Bahadur, to Sirhind. Fateh Burj (tower of victory) at Chappar Chiri stands at the place where the battle was fought in 1710.

Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, Director, Cultural Affairs, said arrangements regarding seating and the saluting dais were discussed yesterday. He said Wizcraft, a well-known company, would organise the laser show.

It is learnt that officials from the defence forces would also pay homage to the Sikh warrior.

Roads leading to the memorial are in a poor shape. Patchwork at various points is being done by the authorities. Hoardings relating to the martyrdom have also been put up at various places.

Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Sohan Singh Thandal had visited Chappar Chiri yesterday to check the arrangements and held a meeting with senior officials.
