Traffic on the Gangotri national highway in Uttarkashi district resumed after the debris were removed by Sunday morning. Rain-triggered landslide had blocked the road last night.

However, due to fresh landslides the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway was blocked at Lambagad in Chamoli district and the authorities were working on a war footing to clear the road.

In Uttarkashi district, landslides at Nalupani, 25 km from Uttarakashi district headquarters, blocked the Gangotri national highway. It was after frantic efforts on the part of the district authorities that the highway was cleared early on Sunday.

However, five connecting rural roads in Uttarkashi district continue to remain obstructed due to landslides. Similarly, three rural roads in Rudraprayag district, six rural roads in Tehri district and five rural roads in Bageshwar district have been blocked due to minor landslides.

In fresh cases of landslides, the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway in Chamoli district was blocked at Lambagad due to landslides as rivers in Uttarakhand are in spate. Ganga in Haridwar district has touched 291-m mark.
