Dehradun, July 27

The five-day ordeal of the abducted teenaged boy finally got over today when the Special Task Force (STF) rescued him from Shamli in Uttar Pradesh and arrested two abductors. The boy, along with his parents and the police team, was expected to arrive at his Rishikesh house by late evening.

Six police teams were camping at different cities in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh to trace the boy as he was missing since July 23. The parents approached the police when they got a call demanding ransom of Rs 50 lakh to release the boy.

Acting on a tip off, a team of the STF, led by SP, City, Ajay Singh and other senior officials, contacted Shamli police as they had vital clues about the missing boy.

The police raided the hideout and arrested two abductors after the parents gave them the ransom in Shamli. The police also recovered Rs 17.5 lakh given by the parents to the abductors.

Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti said the abducted boy was successfully rescued from the clutches of the abductors. The identity of the arrested duo would be disclosed when they arrive in the city.

Jyoti had made several police teams to crack the case as the abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh to release the boy.

It may be recalled that the 13-year-old boy, Hardik Rawat, son of Rahul Rawat, a resident of Rishikesh, Dehradun, was abducted on July 23 while on his way to the local market. Rahul Rawat is the owner of a private school in Rishikesh. The police teams had even arrested few suspects to solve the case.
