Khattar, ministers to work at booth level for 15 days

Around 5,000 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and leaders have expressed their willingness to devote 15 days at booths to spread the policies of the party among the masses.

They include Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, state BJP president Subhash Barala and several ministers, MLAs and MPs.

These leaders and workers gave their consent during the two-day state BJP executive meeting that began here today.

The inaugural session was chaired by the Chief Minister and the president of the state BJP unit presided over the meeting.

This was the first meeting of the state BJP executive members in the hometown of the Chief Minister ever since the party came to power in the state. Earlier, in March, a total of 154 party workers had started working voluntarily as full-time workers.

“The Chief Minister, several ministers, MLAs and MPs and I will devote 15 days each at the booth level to reach out to the masses under Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya national work expansion programme this year,” said Barala.

“It is an attempt to make the party much more strong. Around 5,000 BJP leaders and workers will have to shoulder the responsibility of expanding the base of the party at the grassroots,” he said.

These workers would go to booths from May 26 to June 10 to make the people aware about the policies of the party as well as the policies of the government, Barala said.

Party national president Amit Shah would also spend 15 days at various booths of the country, the state BJP president said.

In the morning, Barala got feedback from members of the state body and all districts bodies about various steps taken by the party as well as the government.

“A political agenda has been proposed during the meeting, which will be discussed tomorrow. The party will discuss the issue of constitutional status for a national commission for other backward castes,” said Rajiv Jain, state BJP media in charge.

“We have taken feedback from party workers about various programmes initiated by the party, including Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya birth anniversary, Bhim Rao Ambedkar birth anniversary and party foundation day,” he added.

Several suggestions were submitted by the party cadre, which would be discussed during the state executive meeting tomorrow, he asserted.
