Representatives of different Jat khaps and the Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samitis today unanimously decided to organise a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on May 11 and hand over a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in support of reservation to the Jats in the Central government services.

The decision was taken at a meeting at Sisana village in the district today and representatives of different khaps from Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh participated in the meeting.

The meeting, which was presided over by Surender Dahiya, chief, Dahiya khap, to review the progress of the Jat reservation issue, also decided to hold a meeting at Jat Bhawan, Rohtak, on May 1 to discuss about preparations for the Jantar Mantar demonstration.

The representatives also deliberated on the legal issues involved in Jat reservation and how to pursue the matter in the Supreme Court.

BLJP MP Raj Kumar Saini was a major topic of discussion at the meeting. Saini has openly opposed reservation for the Jats. The speakers pointed out that the MP had spoken against the stand and position taken by the BJP, Haryana government and the Centre.

Senior leaders, including Yash Pal Malik, Hawa Singh Sangwan and Surender Dahiya, alleged that Saini’s statement that there was a danger to his life was mischievous, misleading and unfounded. “So far as the socio-economic and educational conditions of the Jats are concerned, they are no better than other caste in the OBC category,” they claimed.
