Dehradun, February 22

BJP Khanpur MLA Kunwar Pranav Champion against whom the Uttarakhand BJP had initiated disciplinary action a few days ago today apologised before the Uttarakhand BJP chief Ajay Bhatt.

In a written apology that he submitted today to the BJP chief, Champion said he was sorry for his utterances. “In the heat of the moment I had made those statements against the government and the organisation, my intention was not to tarnish the image of the party or the organisation. I am a loyal and disciplined soldier of the BJP and will continue to work for the party,” he said.

Significantly, the issue that had gained traction after Champion’s statements making light of the Chief Minister’s leadership and questioning the capabilities of his ministers had forced the BJP to issue a show-cause notice.

Champion, in the morning, first met Uttarakhand Minister for State Cooperatives Dhan Singh Rawat and later met the BJP chief Ajay Bhatt for close to an hour and later submitted his reply to the show-cause notice.

“We are withdrawing the show -cause notice issued to him. He has already apologised and admitted his mistakes. These things happen. Sometimes we lose control and say things that should not have been said in the first place,” said Bhatt.

Earlier during his meeting with Dhan Singh Rawat, he was told to express his views only within the party forum.
