Ludhiana, October 11

The supporters of Joga Singh Khalistani today burnt the effigies of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at Bharat Nagar Chowk against the delay in arresting main culprit Sandeep Singh in the case.

Notably, supporters in large numbers have been sitting on a dharna since October 6 outside the DMCH, the day when Joga succumbed.

The members of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) (belonging to Simranjit Singh Mann) also extended their support.

Traffic also remained disrupted for half-an-hour, at the busy intersection of the city. Senior police officials along with a huge posse of police remained stationed at the place to prevent any law and order situation.

Supporters took out a march with the effigies from DMCH to Bharat Nagar Chowk raising anti-SAD government slogans holding the ruling government responsible for backing the assailant Sandeep Singh, a preacher of Damdami Taksal.

The police officials struggled to convince supporters not to take out a march but they refused to budge.

Sukhjit Singh Khosa, Satikar Committee chief said: “We preferred burning the effigy of CM and his son on Dasehra because on this day Lord Rama killed the demon king Ravana. In the present time, CM Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal is also like Ravana, as their deeds are almost equal to demons.”

Khosa said they would continue to sit outside the DMCH until the police arrest the main accused Sandeep. “We will disclose our further plan in a day or two. We may also block any major intersection of the city against the dilly-dallying attitude of the Punjab police,” Khosa added.
