Karnal, May 14

To check oil thefts in the region, Karnal Range IGP Hanif Qureshi directed the police officials to co-ordinate with the officials of the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOC) to keep a vigil on oil pipelines passing through the Karnal district.

While addressing the police officials of the four districts falling under the range — Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Yamunanagar — and the officials of the IOC at his office today, Qureshi said there were four oil pipelines including Panipat-Bhatinda, Panipat-Jalandhar, Kurukshetra-Roorkie-Naziabad and Mathura-Jalandhar, which pass through this range. “Since the pipelines run through the range districts, it is our responsibility to keep a vigil on the oil theft. The police station in charge would interact with the officials of the IOC for better communication, which would help to check oil theft cases,” the IGP said. — OC
