Kedarnath rescue work video shown to students

A video of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel saving thousands of lives during a rescue operation during the Kedarnath disaster was shown to students during an awareness camp held on the Oak Grove School premises here.

Students lauded the efforts of the ITBP personnel that were done to save the lives of people during the tragedy.

The ITBP officials, through the video, displayed various techniques used for building bridges over the gushing mountain rivers, making temporary paths through muddy and slippery terrain, providing food, water and medical support to the victims.

The ITBP officials also shared their experience on managing disaster during the Nepal earthquake and Leh flood rescue mission.

Umesh Nautiyal, Deputy Commandant, ITBP, Mussoorie, said physical fitness should be the most important component in their life and the Indian armed forces was the best place to train cadets.

Students Ritvik Tolia and Tathaghat Pal said they learnt new things in disaster management and such camps should be held at a regular interval.

School principal JP Pandey lauded the efforts of the ITBP personnel. He advised students not to lose patience and stay prepared to face any disaster-like situation.

Sanju Pandey, headmaster of Oak Grove Boys’ School, K Kumar, Dr Sanjay Dube, Dr Atul Kumar Saxena, Vipan Kumar and other faculty members were present.
