Pranavananda Swami from Basaveshwara Mutt on Sunday filed a police complaint against actor Kamal Haasan for allegedly insulting the Mahabharat. The Swami had demanded an apology from the actor. Parvananda Swami says, “It is unbecoming of actor Kamal Haasan to hurt the sentiments of any religious community, including Christians and Muslims. He has been in the thick of controversies even in the past, and we demand he should apologize.”

It all started while responding to a question about violence against women, particularly in the film industry, in an interview with a Tamil TV channel, Kamal Haasan had said that in India, people read even books like the epic Mahabharat, in which “even a woman was pledged in gamble, as a bet” in an apparent reference to Draupadi.
