The two-day Kala Utasv-2016 commenced today. Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur lit the traditional lamp in the auditorium of Government Polytechnic.
The Department of Higher Education under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan is organising the event which will see participation from 400 students.
Kaul Singh said the government was spending a major chunk of money on improving the quality of education. He said 1,050 schools and 42 colleges were opened/upgraded in far-flung areas of the state. Technical education was being imparted to students in 118 government and 135 other institutions.
He said those who would perform well in the utsav would be selected for the national-level event. The minister was accompanied by local officials and party workers.
