Finance and banking offer many career opportunities for people who want to work in global financial markets and serves as a bridge between capital-raising entities and capital-producing investors. The globalisation of banks, the integration of  banking activities, and the growth of emerging markets are ongoing trends. 

Internationalisation means greater exposure to interest rate movements, economic difficulties in developed and developing countries, erratic currency fluctuations, and stock and bond market volatility. A career in banking and finance normally requires a solid background in business-related courses such as accounting, business finance, money and financial markets, statistics, and micro- and macro-economics. In addition, candidates should be able to understand financial statements and analyse a corporation’s growth potential, profitability, industry niche, future projections, and perform a number of similar tasks.

Global PG diploma in Banking and Finance is an international banking and finance programme in India which helps students to become  global finance professionals proficient is Financial Planning and handling International trade transactions. The course  combines the best of global orientation along with strong industry exposure. 

The course

In this one-year full-time programme students learn to think and work like real bankers. They study subjects like banking operations, Wealth management, Trade Finance, Forex, SME Finance, etc. They practice computers, business communication and stock market trading. They attend professional events like leadership camp and bankers meet. The students also obtain parallel certification like CFP, NCFM, NISM, etc. 

Eligibility

Graduates and final year students from any stream are eligible to apply. Students have minimum 50% marks in their graduation can also apply in this course. There is also a 50% scholarship for meritorious students. 

Skills required

Candidate should have the ability to work for long hours in an office or customer service environment. He should be able to interpret financial information and market circumstances and make sound judgement. One has to be highly organised to maintain customer/client portfolios and needs, they have knowledge and adherence to regulations and procedures affecting banking and financial services sector, problem solving abilities when dealing with funds, have strong analytical skills to understand financial figures and foresee future trends and advise clients on best options, strong communication skills to work well with clients and present situation and options in a clear and cohesive manner.

Career and placement

There are lots of career opportunities in this field. After the completion of course students get multiple offers with leading brands for profiles related to international banking, forex and treasury, corporate loans, financial research, etc. Many international banks hire skilled professionals for various profiles on competitive salaries. Public sector banks hire mostly graduates for clerical and probationary officer posts on the basis of all- India level examination.  There are many institutes who conduct IBPS classes to help students in getting government jobs. 

Remuneration

Banking and finance is a highly lucrative field. After completion of course the candidate earn around Rs 25,000 per month and after taking the experience in this field the candidate also earn around between Rs 4 to 6 lakh per annum.
