Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technologies (BUEST) organised a function on the eve of Teacher's Day here today.

Governor Acharya Devvrat was the chief guest on the occasion. He said employment-oriented educational policy was the need of the hour in order to reduce unemployment in society.

He underlined the importance of our traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara and added that young generation should be made aware of our rich traditional values and cultural heritage which was known across the world.

He said besides the knowledge of science and technology, students should be well versed with our glorious history, rich traditions and culture which should be a part of the curriculum.

He also appreciated the unique initiatives of the university like academic adoption which helps students in carving out a career while studying.

He said in order to strengthen the education system, teachers and students should be aware of their duties.

He urged the young generation to refrain from drugs and intoxicants and added that the responsibility of building a strong and vibrant nation rested on them which was possible through hard work and dedication.

The Governor honoured Dr Himmat Singh Sinha, Ex-Professor and Head of Philosophy Department, Kurukshetra University, for his distinguished services in the field of education.

Dr Shakti Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, BUEST, welcomed the Governor and presented a report about the activities of the university.

Gaurav Jhunjhunwala, Secretary, governing body of the BUEST, MLAs Ramkumar and KL Thakur and officials of the local administration were also present.
