Jeweller fakes loot complaint, held

DEHRADUN: The police has arrested a jeweller for lodging a fake loot complaint. Gaurav Verma, a resident of Doon Vihar, in his complaint to the police had alleged that miscreants snatched away his bag containing gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 60,000 on January 1.

The police has arrested a jeweller for lodging a fake loot complaint. Gaurav Verma, a resident of Doon Vihar, in his complaint to the police had alleged that miscreants snatched away his bag containing gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 60,000 on January 1.

The complainant had alleged that the miscreants thrashed him before taking his bag away. Taking cognizance of the complaint, SSP Sadanand Datte formed police teams to crack the case. SP, city, Ajay Singh said when they checked footage of CCTV cameras installed at Patel Nagar, nothing of this sort was found. Later, when the police called the complainant for questioning, he admitted to having lodged a fake complaint to dodge lenders.—TNS
