Jaya’s death a big loss: CM

Terming former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa as a “leader of masses”, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said her death was a big loss to the political process of the country.

“Jayalalithaa was a great personality, I believe she was one of the most learned leaders of our country and she was a people’s Chief Minister, whom people called ‘Amma’ lovingly. I think it is a big loss to the political process of our country and the void that she has left will be hard to fill,” Mehbooba told reporters in Srinagar.

“She was a very learned and compassionate person, very brave, a daredevil and also very cosmopolitan. It was not that people from only one religion associated with her, she was a godmother to all women of her state.” In her condolence message to the newly elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O. Panneerselvam, the Chief Minister said J. Jayalalithaa was an example personified of women empowerment who brought a unique style to the country’s politics.
