Jind, February 7

The Akhil Bhartiya Adarsh Jat Mahasabha (ABAJM) has decided to launch an indefinite fast and gherao the Vidhan Sabha during the forthcoming session. The decision was taken in a mahapanchayat at Narwana town of the district today.

In a separate press conference at Narwana, Samath Jat Samaj Sanghthan (SJSS),another Jat association, announced to block all main points in the state on February 15.

“We have decided to start an indefinite fast from Monday in front of the Narwana administrative complex for reservation. We will gherao the Assembly during the coming session and also sit on hunger strike in front of the official residence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar,” said Dr Pawanjit Banwala, national president of the ABAJM after the mahapanchayat.

Banwala said all senior leaders of khaps attended the mahapanchayat. But another main organisation of the Jats, the SJSS did not participate in the mahapanchayat.

“In our mahapanchayat in Jind on December 23 last year, we have decided to block all main points for a day in the state on February 15. In the evening, we will announce the future course of action,” said Sube Singh Sumain, spokesman of the SJSS.

Sumain said their leaders had identified the main points across the state and they did not want to harass the people, but need their support.
